Thank you very much for being involved as a referee (or armorer, or trainer, or Bout Committee member) in our event! It is no exaggeration to say we couldn't do it without you.
The host hotel for officials is the Crowne Plaza Providence - Warwick (website). It is a short (15 minute) drive to the competition venue, which is the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center at Brown University. Set your GPS to "277 Lloyd Avenue, Providence, RI" for directions to the parking lots behind the facility. Parking is free over the weekend, but limited, so we STRONGLY encourage officials to carpool from the hotel.
Breakfast is included with the hotel stay; lunch will be provided each day at the venue. We will also have volunteers circulating during the day with bottled drinks and snacks. We anticipate that each day will run from about 8:00am to no later than 7:00pm.
Requirements: Officials should have working knowledge of all current USA Fencing rules and rule changes as of April 1, 2016. Officials will be expected to wear USA Fencing standard attire (navy jacket, grey pants or skirt) or comparably professional clothing.
Our head referee for the day is James Gilchrist. Our head of Bout Committee is Brandon Rochelle.
The organizers of the Championships are hiring officials to referee the two-day event as independent contractors. While USA Fencing ratings are not required, referee experience is preferred. Our goal is to hire referees who have ratings of 8 or higher OR comparable experience. Even if you are a 10 or unrated and wish to referee, please apply. If we are able to use you, we will!
