USACFC Inclusivity Policies

We have always aspired to be an inclusive organization that allows students to participate in the sport in the way that makes them the most comfortable and brings them joy. Since 2016, we have had a non-discrimination policy in place that, paired with our current policies around transgender athletes, communicates to our membership that we will protect students no matter their sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

We have every intention to continue to uphold these guidelines and to continue to make our tournament a place where students can be their authentic selves without the risk of invasive requirements to prove or disprove whether they have the right to fence.

Transgender and Nonbinary Athlete Policy

Athletes will be permitted to participate in USACFC-sanctioned events in a manner consistent with their gender identity/expression, regardless of the gender associated with the sex they were assigned at birth in accordance with the guidelines listed by USA Fencing.

To participate in a USA Fencing-sanctioned event, athletes are to register with USA Fencing as the gender in which they identify and wish to compete during registration/renewal. Please note, this selection will be logistically binding and athletes will not be permitted to modify their gender during the season. If the athlete registers as a gender other than their gender associated with the sex assigned at birth, they should adhere to the the following requirements:

Discrimination Policy

USACFC has a zero-tolerance policy for racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, or any kind of discrimination or harassment. USACFC will uphold USA Fencing Referees’ Commission Ethics and Code of Conduct policies, FenceSafe, and SafeSport.
