Referee Information
Interested in refereeing in State College, PA on April 11-12, 2026?

Referee and Staff Requirements: All Referees and Staff are required to have

A Current US Fencing Membership
-
USA Fencing or FIE refereeing ratings, with a minimum of passing the online exams*
-
Completing all Safe Sport certifications PRIOR to the event
-
Must have working knowledge of all US Fencing approved rule changes as of April 1, 2025

Must wear formal and professional attire

Format: Details of the USACFC format can be found in depth at www.usacfc.org. Further details will be discussed at officials’ meetings. Referees will be assigned to one weapon. We will have weapon assignors and a head referee, who will be Mary Frye
Compensation: The USACFC will be paying a per diem based on your highest rating:
N1,N2 and FIE - $200
R1 and R2 - $175
L1 and L2 - $150
P and Unrated -$100
Lodging and travel:

Referees working two days will be housed in a hotel room (no more than two per room) on Saturday night, and on Friday if coming from more than 100 miles away.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days.

Mileage will be reimbursed in two categories:

$0.18 per mile for solo drivers, with a travel reimbursement cap of $75.

$0.22 per mile for carpool drivers (at least one other official in the car). This category has a travel reimbursement cap of $100.

All distances are calculated on Google Maps best route.
Other Opportunities: We are also looking for volunteers, armorers, athletic trainers, and staff for the Bout Committee. Bout Committee will be chaired by Madison Lynn Haughie.
